Kharmari launched a weaving workshop in south Nepal. We collect left over plastic stripes from plastic bag factories and recycle them into a variety of products, such as cushion cover, purse, book cover or meter fabric.

In Nepal, rapid urbanisation along with growing consumption has led to an increase in the problem of waste. There is no proper functioning system for the collection and disposal of waste and it is often dumped in the nearest river or just piled up on vacant land. The unattractive views are not the worst problem that this situation presents. Improperly managed waste is creating a serious health and environmental hazard for all Nepalese.

By using this beautiful stripe of silver plastic mixed with acrylic wool, Kharmari turns them into beautiful finished products.
